The Cuckoo Cuckoo Contemporary Crafts Gallery is right beside the Westhill Ascension Lift, just off the boho pedestrianised George Street shopping area in Hastings Old Town quarter. Just a couple of hundred metres from the beach, tucked into a snug building in a conservation area, Cuckoo Cuckoo is more welcoming and informal than a traditional art gallery, yet more stylish and original than a standard gift shop.Our ethos
Dear to our hearts is the desire to support the local economy - providing a retail outlet for artists and makers. We select individual, artist-designed and handmade pieces, reflecting the locality, which are ethically made, instead of being mass-produced or imported. Everything in the Cuckoo Cuckoo Contemporary Crafts Gallery has been made for you with love, care and skill in the UK - and you can get to know the person behind your artwork because we have artist profiles displayed in the Gallery alongside the work.

Can I afford the work?
We're all on a budget, especially nowadays. But that only makes it even more important to invest your pennies in carefully chosen, unique work that will last and be loved long term. Our handmade greetings cards start at just £1.75, and we have mini-prints from just £3 (they make great value gifts, presented in inexpensive Ikea frames). Ceramics start at £10, and accessories from less than this. Of course, if your budget's a bit more generous, we also have jewellery, sculptures and original artwork for over £200, too. But rest assured, whether you buy a handmade textile postcard for £3.50, or a one-off pendant for £265, you'll get the same friendly welcome and great service at Cuckoo Cuckoo.

Wedding lists
Are you getting married in the next few months, and want only funky, British-handmade items on your wedding list? If so, we're happy to hold a list in the gallery for you, and we can order in extra items specially, as they're bought for you (so if you want a complete tea or dinner service of handmade or hand-decorated china, we can help). We can even list items you want online by arrangement, so your guests don't have to visit the gallery to buy.
